Speech Pathology Majors Scholarships

Parents and students often face the difficult decision of how to pay for college. Research Grant in Early Childhood Language Development For Student

The Center for Early Childhood Education and Development at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is now accepting proposals for student research grants to study early childhood language development. The grant provides up to $10,000 to students who will implement and present a research project during the 2017 school year. The Center aims to encourage students in the social sciences and humanities to pursue research on languages and literacy development in young children to deepen our understanding of how these skills are developed.

The Frank P. Husvar Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to Frank’s generosity and his desire to help future generations of young adults achieve their educational goals. The scholarship honors Frank’s commitment to the community by providing scholarships for college-bound students who are financially challenged. A graduate of South Dakota Mines, Dr. Husvar was a professor of chemistry at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado for over 50 years.

VFK Voice of Democracy Program For Students

VFK Voice of Democracy Program is a program that enables students to learn about the American democratic process and how it works. The program consists of three levels: the elementary level, which introduces American history and civics; the intermediate level, which covers current events; and the advanced level, which includes discussion of topics like voting law, presidential elections, and civil rights.

The Julia Burke Award program

The Julia Burke Award is a national award given to the top 5% of students in each state. Winners are selected by act of Congress. The award was founded in honor of Julia Burke who had “a lifelong commitment to public service and dedicated her life to serving others.” The award was established with her estate, which has grown over time due to generous donations from friends, family members, and community organizations. The Julia Burke Award is given annually by act of Congress.

Optimist International Oratorical Competition

An annual contest for high schoolers, the Optimist International Oratorical Contest, has participants from around the world compete to see who can best employ persuasive oratory skills. The first year of the contest was held in Boston in 1920, and since then it has grown to encompass over 100 countries. The top prize is a scholarship worth $3,000 that feeds into an Optimist International Foundation Scholarship valued at up to $36,000.

Chapter Oratorical Program Coast Guard

The Coast Guard Chapter Oratorical Program is an annual competition in which members of the chapter compete for the title of Most Outstanding Speaker. Students are able to participate if their grade point average is 3.5 or higher and they have been studying speech for at least one year at their school. While not all members of the Coast Guard Crew can participate, those who do compete must recite a speech that has been written and approved by the Coast Guard Chapter Oratorical Committee.

Dorothy McKay Anderson Scholarship program

Dorothy McKay Anderson Scholarship is a prestigious award, awarded to women who wish to continue their studies in the sciences. This scholarship is open to any woman over the age of 18 and currently enrolled or has been accepted into an undergraduate program at a four-year university. The scholarship provides $5,000 each year for up to 4 years for continued study and will be renewed annually as long as the recipient maintains a 3.2 GPA or higher.

SMC Forensics Honors Award Program

The Socio-Medical Clinic of Culver City (SMC) announced the opening of its Forensics Honors Award. These awards are $2,000 scholarships that will go to incoming freshmen students who demonstrate excellence in at least one area of forensics. The award will be determined by their high school transcript and also their test scores on the ACT or SAT.

The scholarship will be awarded to up to two students with a GPA of 3.0 or above.

ACF James Ledwith Memorial Scholarship Program

The ACF James Ledwith Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to an individual who plans to major in Construction Management at the University of Maine. The award recipient will be selected based on leadership qualities, academic performance, and demonstrated community service. To apply for this prestigious award, please submit a letter of intent by February 1st, followed by your full application by March 1st.
